LiveID software can be used with direct mass data obtained using the Waters RADIAN ASAP direct-injection mass detector, or with data obtained using the Waters Xevo G3 QTof or SYNAPT XS HRMS time-of-flight mass spectrometers equipped with a REIMS source.Overview

Rapid analysis for a variety of applications
The process is fast, simple, and reliable, with no sample preparation required. Direct analysis using mass spectrometry measures a range of compounds in an unbiased manner, providing a comprehensive molecular profile of the chemical components in the sample. The LiveID software features a visually modern, attractive web interface that offers a workflow-driven approach that is easy to learn and use. Initially, authentic, validated samples are used to create and validate a statistical model. Validated models can then be applied to test samples to generate real-time classifications. The result is an easy-to-interpret “yes/no” response.The range of applications is broad and includes:

1. Real-time library alignment
LiveID is also capable of performing real-time library alignment workflows, where the software aligns all compounds in the library with each analyzed sample, providing a score out of 1,000; values close to 1,000 indicate that the compound of interest is likely present in the sample; lower scores indicate that it is unlikely to be present in the sample.
2. Direct MS Analysis Data
Direct MS analysis data are imported into LiveID. Shown are the complete ion chromatograms from ten collections and an example of an MS spectrum merged from the region highlighted in orange.
3. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA)
After importing the MS data, PCA and LDA are used to construct a statistical model of the samples under study. A PCA-LDA plot of data from five classes of whitefish is shown (yellow cod, red pollock, green haddock, purple pollock, and brown whiting; n = 50–194 distinct fish samples per class, with 8–12 ROIs collected per sample) is shown.
4. Classified Data for Real-Time Recognition
Once the statistical model has been built using authentic samples and validated, it can be used for real-time recognition. The image shows data from nine measurements. For additional information on the identity of the chemical components observed in the samples, the mass spectrometry data can be further analyzed offline in Progenesis QI.Technical specifications
